Katniss starts of as a rather static character, she doesn't want anything that is happening and tries to stick to being a normal girl from district twelve. When the start of the hungergames get's closer she has to change because otherwise she know she won't make it out of the arena alive. Then she does change but not the way that was expected from her by her mentor Haymitch. She get's more stubborn with every day that passes and does some very dumb things. This is the reason nobody gives her much change going in to the arena. One of things that changes the most is he willingness to kill people. At first she just runs for the bow and then she dissappears into the forest. Here she makes one friend Rue but one day when they go hunting apart from each other rue is trapped and Katniss is the first to find her. When Katniss tries to release her a boy shows up and throws his spear at Katniss, he misses but kills Rue instead. Katniss kills the boy with her bow and her mindset changes she doesn't hesitate at al to kill from this point. She want's revenge for Rue.
